In Excel 97 the problem of how to convert Excel spreadsheets into HTML/web pages was partially resolved by Microsoft's introduction of 'The Internet Assistant' Wizard/Add-in, which presented itself as the 'Save as HTML...' option in Excel's file menu.
Why then the need for LiveWebs when the ability to convert spreadsheets already exists built-in to Excel 97?
In reality, whilst being a step in the right direction, 'The Internet Assistant' Wizard/Add-In was far too basic and limited a tool to be worth employing on more than the odd one-off basis - the process was simply too inflexible, cumbersome and time-consuming, the results erratic at best.
LiveWebs has been developed in order to overcome the various shortcomings of 'The Internet Assistant' Wizard/Add-In, drawing together all the disparate processes into one integrated, straightforward, Excel-dedicated spreadsheet to HTML publishing system.
For this reason, the Features List below is framed in terms of a comparison between the shortcomings of 'The Internet Assistant' Wizard/Add-In and LiveWebs's solutions to those shortcomings.
